I’m Nik Miles at Dick Hannah Kia here to show you the 2023 Kia Soul. It gets some major enhancements for this year. It gets a new front, a new back, and it’s still that fun little runabout that we’ve always known it has been. So, let’s get started with the outside, the inside and see how it drives on the road.

The Soul is available with one engine, a two-liter that outputs 147 horsepower. But it’s always been fun to drive. This vehicle has been about fun. The small boxy car that could do absolutely anything. And now, the Soul comes in some extra colors and has a lot of extra features depending on what trim level you want to buy. So, what extra features does it get? Well, they’re mostly around safety; Forward Collision Avoidance. It has Pedestrian Detection. It also comes with a larger screen, 10.25 inches. It gets a lot of things that you’ve always wanted in your Soul, like the electronically powered seat, which is something that a lot of people have been asking for. But the Soul has been about music, about soul, about fun, and that’s the sort of thing that everybody that drives a Soul is really about. It’s about convenience for a great price, and that’s what people who own a Soul buy a Soul for. When I’ve been driving a Soul with my friends, it’s the sort of thing where we have our concert in the car, and we all sing together too.

The highway driving Smart Cruise Control, which is now navigation based in this vehicle, is something new that they’ve put into the Soul as well. Now the gauge cluster in front of the driver is all digital. They’ve also added some black gloss trim inside the Soul. So, there’s a lot of stuff that’s drifting into this vehicle which is very modern. And I love the fact that they’re putting that in with no significant extra charge for Soul owners. And you can get a Soul, which is a very base trim level, and you can also go up to a very exotic trim level in the Soul Plus.

Now they have the GT Line in the Soul, which is the sporty performance version of the Soul which I have to tell you I’m not sad at owning one of those because a performance Soul level is a fun Soul level. So really, in summary, if you’re looking for something that has a whole bunch of added safety features, has great fuel economy, can fit you and four of your friends, plus this vehicle is affordable and comes in multiple different trim levels, the Soul is definitely a vehicle which is great fun for a family, is great fun for an individual. This is affordable. And, of course, has all of those benefits from the Kia family. It fits perfectly into multiple people’s lifestyles. And I’ve always been in love with the Soul and will continue to be in love with the Soul.

Now the Soul was originally launched in 2009, and I was there in Miami. It’s such a great car. It’s all about music and having a great time and great fun. But for 2023, there’s a couple of things that have changed with the Kia Soul. First of all, LED lights up front; in fact, the whole front end has got refreshed. So, with technology improving so much, the LED lights have found their way into the Kia Soul up front. And the front end has got a lot slimmer and more modern.

So, you can see these new front LED lights here, and the new Kia logo, of course, in the middle, and of course, a new front grille all the way around. If you come around the side of the brand-new front end, you’ll still see the Soul we recognize around the side with those thin, sort of boxy side wheels. This vehicle, of course, makes it easy to park in any urban setting. So, a very complex but very beautiful sort of corner and front end. Monochromatic mirrors here, and then the very smooth lines with monochromatic door handles, a black daylight opening space here with black B pillars all the way down the side. Still keeping that very square sort of look to the vehicle all the way to the back here and the squared-off back. It sort of comes up here, and a little piece of black here for the quarter light panels, the gas tank, small square back end, and this is where some of the new back end begins here with the LED rear lights. And, of course, that squared-off back end here, the nameplate at the back, and some black cladding here at the back end too.

Once you get into the trunk, there’s a small lip here to lift things over. And there’s actually 24 cubic feet of space with the seats up here. You can put them down to increase that space, and I’ve found that you can get a whole bunch of stuff in here. I’ve actually got five dogs in the back of the Kia Soul. It’s quite comfortable in the back of the Kia Soul. And there’s quite a lot of very cool designs in the back here as well, as well as great leg room. A boxy car will give you actually 38 inches of legroom sitting here in the back of the vehicle. I wouldn’t be too sad to go on a nice road trip sitting here in the back seat.
