I’m Nik Miles at Dick Hannah Honda in Vancouver and today we’re going to take a look at a very perfect truck for the whole family. This is the Honda Ridgeline, a very cool truck that’s created for an outdoor adventure for the whole family to take trips. And you can even use it as a work truck. We’re going to take a look at the luxury on the inside, some of the really cool features, and put it on the road and see how it drives. So, let’s get going.

Now I’m super excited about the drive in the Ridgeline purely because Honda is the largest engine manufacturer in the world, and this has a 3.5-liter V6 engine under the hood. And of course, Honda engines go for absolutely ever. This vehicle has a nine-speed transmission and so it’s very very smooth. You can feel there’s no bumps there, you don’t see me jumping around anywhere, and that’s the beauty of this pickup. It doesn’t ride bumpy; it doesn’t ride jolty. A lot of times when you’re in a pickup you expect to be thrown around a little bit, but this is smooth, and it shares a lot of components with their SUV family. But at the same time, it can deal with rough and adventure roads. You can take it off-roading. It’s a standard all-wheel-drive which means that it’s perfectly matched to have adventures with.

Looking at everything on the inside of the vehicle you can see that it’s a Honda. It’s very easy to gaze at anything from the very large graphics on the infotainment system. It’s very easy to reach anything like the HVAC controls. You can see everything in the gauges immediately, they’re clear, they’re visible, and they’re easy to get to all the buttons on the steering wheel and very identifiable. So, Honda makes things simple, and they also make things easy.

Now it has paddle shifters as well, even though it’s a pickup truck and an adventure vehicle. They still give it things like paddle shifters so there’s no messing around with doing things by half. Honda does things by of course full-time, all the time.

The interior materials, soft steering wheel, really nicely put together, soft-touch dash. You can find one-touch front windows, one touch down, one touch up. All the things like central locking, lock off the windows, they’re all available to the driver. And I love the idea that everything is in perfect reach. Plus, Honda has given me things like storage, center console storage, easy access cup holders, and a push-button transmission. So, they’ve let nothing go to miss in this vehicle. Plus, I don’t often see luxury like this in this size of pickup and that’s because Honda has based the interior off of their SUVs for a family. So, although this is a pickup truck with a pickup truck bed you get the luxury of an SUV and that means you can do adventuring and not have a complaining family while you do it.

And of course, if you’re thinking about safety there is a long list of Honda safety equipment that comes with this vehicle. That’s always been a priority for Honda, and they pack every single one of their vehicles with the utmost amount of safety equipment that they possibly can. Now it also has intelligent traction management with different modes, normal, snow, mud, and sand. So that means you can choose any of those terrains to get better traction in this vehicle. That means take it off-road and have an adventure because the Ridgeline is ready-made for your family to have memories wherever you might take it.

Now for creature comforts we can add in it has the cigarette lighter power USB up front and just to keep you warm when the weather is not of course heated seats as well. Now don’t forget Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. And if you want to tow a trailer, go camping with a caravan, 5,000 pounds this vehicle will tow. So, you’re able to do towing as well. And there are some trucks in this class that can’t do as well as this can, so Honda has nailed absolutely everything in this vehicle. Plus, the resale value and the longevity of a Honda you know you get thumbs up from me every time you buy a Honda because they have those packaged in with it every single time.

Now when it comes to aggressive-looking trucks the Ridgeline is definitely up there. This vehicle has this large, big bulge in the hood and a very stand-out grille. Now, this is the black package and of course, you can see in the black edition the front grille is all blacked out and of course at the bottom as well as the bumper all blacked out. It has black cladding across the bottom and then air vents here. Now you can see the signal light at the bottom here if you come around to the side here it has black 18-inch wheels and I think they really finished the truck off well. It has cladding all the way around the sides, black colored mirrors with the embedded signal, and come around the sides even the door handles are black with the touch lock and unlock buttons here as part of the door handle. Come around the sides, black pillars, and even across the top of the bed, it has a cladding here on the bed which means that when you’re loading stuff into the back of the truck it doesn’t get any damage.

And at the back here is where there’s a lot of excitement in this truck because the tailgate opens in two different ways. You can open it like a traditional tailgate, you can load your stuff into the back, this truck, of course, has the bed liner in it already, but it also has a second way that you can open the tailgate. Under here the tailgate opens traditionally like an SUV door and you can load stuff in the back here and here’s the piece de resistance of this tailgate it actually has a trunk and the trunk all the way down here you can get a whole ton of stuff on the inside. And this trunk also has an area which the spare tire fits on the inside. Now in the trunk is also a stopper. What is this for? Well, you can fill that trunk with ice and then drain it out, take the stopper out, you can drain all the water out. So, when you’ve gone fishing and you’ve caught all those salmon a perfect way to store them in this trunk it becomes an ice chest.

Now on top of that, you’ve got bed lights in the back here and also this doubles as a speaker. What do I mean by that? Well, it has speakers in the back of the bed which means that if you want to play the sound system in this truck it actually reverberates off the bed and becomes its own large speaker at the back. So, it’s all business in the front and party in the back.

Now just short of 37 inches of legroom in the back here which is plenty of room for me. This actually has two map pockets in the back, two USB ports as well and you have access to the center console where you can actually store stuff up front as well. Now there is cup holders in the door, as well as this fold-down armrest in between the seats here. Plus, these rear seats do fold up so you can use the rear of the vehicle for storage, and it does have some molded plastic underneath the seats to be able to store items in so the bag becomes useful in more than one way.
