Good news for Oregon car shoppers! The Oregon Clean Vehicle Rebate Program is returning for 2026.
Starting August 25, eligible Oregon residents can once again receive a cash rebate when purchasing or leasing a qualifying electric vehicle (EV) or plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV).
Depending on the vehicle and applicant eligibility, rebates for qualifying passenger vehicles range from $750 to $7,500.
There’s also a limited window to take advantage of the program. The 2026 Oregon Clean Vehicle Rebate Program is scheduled to run from August 25 through November 4, 2026.
If you’ve been thinking about making the switch to an EV, here’s what you need to know.
The Oregon Clean Vehicle Rebate Program (OCVRP) is run by the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) and helps make electric vehicles more accessible to Oregon drivers.
One important distinction is that this is a cash rebate, not a tax credit.
For 2026, there are two rebate options:
Applicants can receive one or the other. The Standard Rebate and Charge Ahead Rebate cannot be combined.
The Standard Rebate is available to eligible Oregon residents, businesses, nonprofits and government agencies purchasing or leasing a qualifying new vehicle.
There is no income requirement for the Standard Rebate.
For 2026, Standard Rebate amounts are:
Eligible new BEVs and PHEVs must have a base MSRP under $50,000 and appear on Oregon DEQ’s current Eligible Vehicle List.
Used vehicles are not eligible for the Standard Rebate.
The Charge Ahead Rebate provides larger rebates for qualifying low- and moderate-income Oregon households, as well as eligible nonprofit low-income service providers.

New and used Charge Ahead vehicles must meet Oregon DEQ requirements and appear on the applicable Eligible Vehicle List. Qualifying vehicles must have an original base MSRP under $50,000.
For individual applicants, Charge Ahead eligibility is based in part on household income.
Your household must meet Oregon DEQ’s Charge Ahead income requirements, which are based on household size and the federal poverty guideline.

If you think you may qualify for the Charge Ahead Rebate, you can get a head start before the program opens.
Oregon DEQ is currently accepting Charge Ahead Prequalification Applications.
Once approved, you’ll receive a prequalification voucher. If you purchase or lease an eligible vehicle through a participating dealership, that voucher may allow the qualifying rebate to be applied at the time of the transaction.
Only participating dealerships can offer Oregon Clean Vehicle Rebates at the point of sale.
Prequalification does not guarantee that a particular vehicle or transaction will qualify, so be sure to verify current vehicle and program requirements before purchasing or leasing.
Yes.
If you don’t receive your rebate at the point of sale, you may still apply after purchasing or leasing an eligible vehicle.
Applicants generally have six months from the purchase or lease date to submit their rebate application.
You’ll need to provide the documentation required by Oregon DEQ to verify your residency, vehicle, transaction and, if applicable, Charge Ahead income eligibility.
Yes, an Oregon resident may be able to purchase or lease an eligible vehicle from a certified dealership outside Oregon, including in Washington, and still qualify, provided the applicant, vehicle and transaction meet all Oregon DEQ requirements.
The applicant, vehicle and transaction must meet Oregon DEQ requirements, and the vehicle must be registered in Oregon as required by the program.

The 2026 program opens August 25, 2026 and is scheduled to remain open through November 4, 2026.
These dates are important.
Vehicles purchased or leased before August 25, 2026, or on or after November 5, 2026, are not eligible for a 2026 Oregon Clean Vehicle Rebate.
Oregon DEQ also expects strong demand and anticipates the available funding will be fully subscribed.
Once the program opens, shoppers can check Oregon DEQ’s Available Rebate Funding page to monitor the fund balance.
If applications exceed available funding while the program is open, approved applicants may be placed on a waiting list. DEQ expects those applicants to be paid after receiving its next financial allotment, currently expected in early spring 2027.
Vehicles purchased outside the 2026 program window will not qualify for the rebate or the waiting list.

Rebate amounts are not automatic discounts. Eligibility depends on the applicant, vehicle, transaction, program requirements and available funding.
